Just my feeling

Hi all

This post is not about any craft project. Its just a personal mail  where i want to share my feelings with you all. I had an interest in craft from my childhood and never found time to do anything like this as am doing now. Thanks to smita who   kindly shared her quilling art. I learnt my first class in june and i roughly remember the month as july when i first entered some challenge. And in these five months i had experienced so many things, inspired from many and learnt few things which i can just ignore but i couldnot. Its not fair if i write anything like this anywhere, because its my blog i can share my opinions about something.
After participating in the challenges in these 5months ,i want to share something i observed. I am specifically talking about only Indian challenges. I participated in every challenge without missing, am just not saying this because i didn't win anything. There are many talented crafters out there, i really admire their work. They are all the people who also started the same way as any new crafter and established themselves, once participated in the Indian challenges and now became DTs.  What i don't understand is DTs of one Indian challenge participate in other Indian challenge and tell me whose work will be more good and attractive, the one with 3yrs of experience in crafting world or a months experience crafter.  And obviously they are the people who get recognised more, that is not bad thing but just imagine. I am definitely sure that somebody somewhere will feel the same way as i felt being a new crafter. And they have so many wonderful tools needed to make a nice card, i dont say that people who have should give chance to others. You can definitely participate in other than Indian challenges. I  know that iam not the one to give rules ,but this might give you an idea that some people may think like this too. This is not about all the DTs but  only few who participate in other  Indian challenge blogs and obviously their work wins, there is no surprise in that.  This is not about the people who have tools, who have experience, but mainly who participate being DT of other Indian blogs. And everyone who participate will not casually do something without keeping challenge in mind and there will be lot of work gone into it.

This is the thing i felt after seeing many challenges not a one day feeling.I think after feeling bad for myself for quite  sometime i thought its time for me to do something for myself not just for challenges. And i cannot even craft for few days as i burnt my fingers while stopping the flames. I am still writing with those fingers to just let you know about how a new crafter feels. Thanks to everyone who comments on my work and it really encourages me.  I will definitely share my projects with you all.

Back to School

Hi all

Made a card for BGC -Back to school.  I have made layers of grass, road with papers and hand drawn the shool bus and children on a card , cut it and pasted on the road. clouds are also drawn and cut from a thick card. Used flower beads on the grass. Sentiment is a Printout.
I had seen the image in a book of my kid. Coloured with water colour pencils.

I dont know why my photo comes dull when the image is coloured with pencils. Can anyone share their experience of the way to photograph these kind of images. I took the photo in both day light and in the room. still not satisfied. should learn more to take nice pics.
On a personal note, My son always is the first one to comment on my cards. He was asking where is the driver of this bus and wants this bus to move.  :).

hope you all like it

Quilled lying baby

Hi friends

Its been a week since i posted anything. Its a busy week with festivals. I was searching for quilled babies and found this http://szalonaisa.blogspot.ch/2012/08/quilling-baby-girl-card.html  , love at first sight :) for the quilling . Took the help of clipart she mentioned in her blog, here it is http://www.clker.com/clipart-14527.html
I liked her crawling baby a lot, mine doesn't seem anywhere near that.
Done the quilling of a lying baby.  Used a pattern paper for the first time which has teddybears. Sentiment is a printout. It is not the beehivemethod for the body of baby. I cut paper strips into small pieces and rolled with tool into small circles.
I rolled lots of small strips. After completing half i felt that i should have used a cream colour for the body, then would have known the eyes and mouth clearly, sad for that :(,better luck next time. I cannot do anything now. I distressed the ends and the background of sentiment, i dont know how to use distress ink, just learning, i dont know whether i can use here or not :). Does that look like a baby, would love to hear your
comments.

Quilled photo frame

 Hi

Finally made a Quilled frame. Its one of my first things to do after i started learning quilling. Saw so many wonderful frames in google. After i saw Lin's, i wanted to try the same one. But turned out very different from hers. May be practice makes perfect, dont know when i learn doing perfect malaysian flowers. Tried Ladybug too from her frame. So cute it is. I like combing technique so made leaves from that, i covered the back of leaves with green paper so the combing patterns are seen properly. Made a butterfly with malaysian technique only.

DREAM BIG

Hi all,

Made a card for  CRAFT challenges on sport theme. I saw this challenge few days back and was thinking what to do with quilling as am in to it. Yestarday only i saw that today is the last day, then thought i would try something i never tried before. I selected cycling, horse riding, basketball and tennis sports. I layered the cardstock with white, black and white. Then drew the parts like head, hand, legs on a black paper and cut it and stuck on the white cardstock carefully. I drew the cycle, horse ,tennis racket and basketball with black marker. Completed in 2hrs only because my kid slept early yestarday ;) .Thanks to him.
Sentiment is a printout. Thought Dream Big will be suitable.

When i showed my husband today morning he thought its a printout, but truely i drew it, u can find the head shapes different and some hands coming out because i have not stuck it with glue as afterwards when i press that look will not be good,so done it with tape roller which  didnot stick properly for the entire hand , thought  i will leave it.

First order

Hi all,

Here is the Quilled Name  which I made to Order for my Friend. Also made a  Quest Book to take the wishes from the guests My mind has been occupied and tensed as this is my first one and i will be relieved once i deliver it.Tomorrow is the Birthday and am waiting for them to pick this up.  I cannot tell how happy I am that i have finally done something very satisfying in my life, but very tensed for their response tomorrow at the party.
This is the Quest Book. Not done with any pattern papers, made it very very simple inside. But i quilled a mickey mouse which took me 2hrs. Took a printout of the quotes about 1st birthday and pasted on alternate pages. Didn't take the photos of everpage.

Love to Hear your comments.
Thanks
Kavitha

Believe

Hi all
Happy World Card Making Day to all of you

Made a card with a digital image from Sassy Studio which i won in Tuesday Alchemy challenges.  The sketch is from Freshly Made sketches. The sentiment is from link up for Pink , Believe which i mean Believe in yourself in everything you do always. First time used a technique of water colouring with a pink stamp pad(which i won in Lin's august blog giveaway) and also with water colour pencils. Love the way of colouring with little pen kindof brush filled with water. But need to improve a lot.

Hope you like it

CFC72: TOOT YOUR OWN HORN

Hi all

Made a card for CAS-ual Fridays. This week's challenge is we should take inspiration from our blog Banner.
The banner i had is a gift by a bloggerfriend Sridevi who designed for me.
I asked her if i can you her image. I had seen so many beautiful creations by fellow participants and after seeing their interpretation, thought why not keep the same fairy as it is and add a sentiment related to it.

So i drew the fairy and coloured with water colour pencils.

Hope you like it.
