Pineapple Thanks

Hi all

Made a card using the inspiration photo from Paper smooches June challenge. I had thought of  the daisies and chevron after seeing the spikes of pineapple. Here are the steps for the card
1. Diecut the white cardstock using stitched rectangle die.
2.Embossed more than half of the card with chevron embossing folder.
3.Distressed a cardstock with rasberry and mustard seed and diecut daisies. For the leaf i used paper smooches loopy leaf die which was actually found in my scraps. I think i was supposed to do a background with distress inks green and yellow followed by stenciling of the pattern ,which i did not like and i thought of cutting the leafs instead of throwing. Finally put in to use now.
4. Sentiment is from the hope stampset which is also from Papersmooches. I remembered that i won this stampset in the challenge by savanaah long back , i recollected only when going through old posts as i started crafting after 4 yrs now.

Hibiscus Anniversary wishes

Hi all

Made my first masking card. It seems challenges make me think more and active. So thought i would participate more often and try new techniques even though i feel my stamping is pretty basic. Now that i gradually feeling good when stamping(no fear) ,i wanted to try out more.

Here are the steps for the cardmaking
1. I stamped the hibiscus (mudra stamps from India) randomly with versafine black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder and started wetting the paper followed by coloring with watercolors.
2. Stamped the leaves with versamark and heat embossed with pearl green embossing powder.
3. I found that after coloring my flowers were not as bright as they were first before coloring so tried stamping again with versafine and clear embossed. As i didnot have MISTI it was hard to stamp properly as my cardstock also curled up with coloring but finally stamped properly except two which you can see in the card.
I would have thrown the card in my scraps if i had not heard in the video of Kristina when she found few watercolored droplets in the inside of the card that 'its fine with me as it looks really like a handmade card'. This made me stop me from throwing and it actually looks like a blurred image.
4.Blinged it up with rhinestones. Stamped the sentiment and heat embossed which again has some mistakes. My white embossing powder is almost 6 yrs old and it actually turned to little yellow. I had to buy antistatic pouch and powder soon.
I have lots to improve but happy with my first attempt.

First One layer card

Hi all
Made a one layer card first time. Its a simple card but i always had fear of stamping on the cardstock but finally happy with the outcome that too with first attempt.  Stamped the swirls and butterfly with versamark ink and clear embossed the image. Felt this sentiment will be appropriate as the swirls had hearts. will take a pic in the sun tomorrow so that  the shine due to embossing on the card is visible.

Border using sentiments

Hi all

Just in time for the challenges. Was thinking a CAS card for a while as Iam not used to do such cards, when suddenly got a thought to make a border using sentiments.
Here are the steps.
1. First stamped the sentiment around the cardstock and clear embossed it.
2.Die cut Happy ,friend and placed a distressed cardstock on the back of it.
3.Took a long time to decide whether to make shaker or not but thought the color will not be visible if it is shaker card so just put an acetate sheet under it.

Flower from a leaf

Hi all,

Made a card using a loopy leaf die from paper smooches. It is so amazing to see how the challenges make me think more and excited to see the result. The challenge at papersmooches for the month May is using flower dies but unfortunately i do not have any flower stamps or dies from Papersmooches. So I had to make a flower from the leaf die i had.

1.Emboosed the background using darice embossing folder.
2. Used the tag die from clearlybesotted ,distressed it and used star stencil on it.
3. Sentiments are also from clearlybesotted.
4.I used the first top petal of the leaf to make the flower. I cut the foam and violet cardstock 10 times to make 2 flowers.
5. For the leaves i stamped and embossed using clear embossing powder and colored using Carandache watercolor pencils.

I donot know if this is eligible for the challenge as i didnot use any flower stamps or dies but happy how this turned out

Back to crafting after a long gap. So good to be back. Recently made a card using the Mudra stamps which are Made in India. Here is the card,
1. Distressed the background with broken china and peacock feathers.
2.Hand cut two hearts of different sizes and layered them and using the Mudra stencil, made a pattern on the first heart. The second heart is the golden paper.
3. The flower is also from the Mudra stencil on which i first traced the outline of the flower and leafs with fine tip black marabu marker. Coloured the flower and leafs with distress inks , Artistry inks.Handcut both flower and leafs.4.The sentiment is from paper smooches , which i heat embossed on black card stock.

An album for the Boys

Hi all

Back again after a while before taking a long break. I wanted to share a cute album(9 by 9 inches) i made for my kids( yet to be born second one) . I would like to share my album Little by little as i had to edit almost 20 pics, will try to put few in one pic. Sharing the album cover first. Will edit the details also slowly atleast before my due date(in 2weeks).  After so many mistakes , learnings here is the first photo.

All started after buying the Marthastewart scoring board and fiskars trimmer in creativa zurich. I always wanted to do an album inspired by many crafters and finally tried mine after seeing couple of videos from youtube. Bought Bundle of joy from echo park , some stamps , coordinated dies from clearly besotted and then got some courage to do mine.
The cover is 9 by 9 inches and inside pages are 7.5 by 7.5inches. I thought of doing the album with rings first but later on realized that its not fitting and i dont have any bigger rings. so done with hinges and pasted each page. Covered the middle part of each page with washi tape.

Big thanks to vithya (craftwithme.blogspot.com) for inspiring me to start an album for the baby and also smitha  for clearing my doubts. I could not resist putting flowers on the cover even though it is boy's.
The flowers are made using spellbinders rose creations die.
  • The spine of the album is covered with the embossed paper and distressed.
  • The cover has few handmade flowers and stickers.
  • The dies are from clearly besotted

1.The first page after opening has the pic of my family when my first son was born.
  • The clothes hanging is the sticker from bundle of joy. The stork with a baby is a coordinating stamp and die set from clearly besotted.
  • I heat embossed with gold powder the sentiment of special delivery.
  • The bottom sentiment is just stamped on a pattern paper with a crochet baby shoes as an embellishment.
  • Bottom of the page has the pattern paper punched and lets few tags to slide in.

2.
Made a frame using the scallop oval die with the acetate and space to slide the pic from top.
  • The pattern paper is the left over paper from last year.  I have to diecut the photo to slide into. The stickers are the from Bundle of joy of echo park.
  • I have embossed and distressed the bottom layer, you can see that i embossed half of the paper at a time.
  • There is a slot to slide the tags which are put together with a brad.
  • The alphabets and number are from MFT die set where each letter is cut 4 times to look a bit thick.
  • Baby is the die from Clearly besotted .

3.

This is the page to add the pic of the new born.
  • Its a shaker card with a tag inside to add the details. I have not applied tape to top portion of the card so that i can slide in some more tags
  • The right side portion is left empty to put the name after wards , vertically.

4. This is a pocket page to put few photos on the cardstock. The horse you can find is kept to conveniently pull the photo mat.
  • Both these pages are for the pictures taken with grandparents. 4 photos can be put on each side of the page, Its just like a cardstock and space to slide in the tags on top.
  • The alphabets are Maamma,Tata , Amamma and Tata.

5.

  • This page is for pinni and babai (co-sister and brother-in-law) with my son. There is a space for the tag with a ribbon rose on a clip to pull out.
  • The right side page has an accordian card to put photos and tags.

6.

  • The page on the left hand side when opened can be found in the other pic. I don't know the name of the fold but can have 4 by 4 inch pictures.
  • There is a magnetic closure to stop it from opening. The rhinestone on the front of the left page has a magnet.
  • A small pocket to store the accordian type tags. Simply stamped the sentiment twice with two inks and a small embellishment.
  • The right side has a different fold card  when pulling the green tab opens up the photos.
7.

  • The left hand side page is a fold made with one 12 by 12 cardstock with a magnetic closure.
  • The pocket holds the tags.
  • The right side has a double slider card which opens when the heart button is pulled.I wanted to paste the photos on top and bottom.
  • This page is a pocket page to hold more photos.

8.
  • This page on left hand side has a fold which is made with 3 envelopes. The first baby steps photos can be put with the pockets of the envelops holding tags.
  • The rhinestone on top is a magnet to close the envelopes.

  • The page on the right hand side has a photobox which holds 12 photos and 10 tags(distressed) with a brad. Each tag is gold embossed with baby sentiments.
  • This is a pocket page and can be pulled out with the lion wood veener.
  • Decorated the top of the box with some stickers.
  • Inside i have a double sided cardstock to stick photos on.(6 by4)
9.

  • The page on the left side is a waterfall model for the photos. The tags can be put  by the side.
  • The page on right hand side is for the first year birthday family photo when my first son is born.
  • The next page has the place for my second son's.
  • The last page has a space to put some photos of their smiles and i made an onsie card to put the pictures when they are sleeping.
